Connect WordPress.com
Authorize your hosted WordPress.com site for posts and featured images.
Use the WordPress.com connection for a website hosted on WordPress.com. You authorize your selected site in WordPress.com, so you do not need to paste your WordPress.com password into outwrite.ai.
For a self-hosted installation, follow the WordPress Application Password guide instead.
Connect your site
- Open Plan → Schedule and publishing → Connect or manage a website → WordPress.com. You can also connect during onboarding.
- Choose Connect WordPress.com.
- Sign into WordPress.com and choose the website you want to publish to.
- Review the requested permissions for posts and media, then choose Connect.
- When you return, look for the connected site name. Select it as your publishing destination.
Use the WordPress.com account that can create and publish posts on that site. If your account does not have sufficient access, ask the site owner to connect it.
Start with a draft
Choose draft delivery for the first article. Open Posts → Drafts on WordPress.com and check the title, content and featured image. Your WordPress theme controls the public layout.
The article's image is imported into the site's media library and assigned as its featured image. Alt text travels with it. Removing the cover before delivery creates a post without a featured image.
Turn on scheduled publishing
After checking your first draft, choose live delivery and either review each article or use Autopilot. Your article checks and saved publishing permissions still apply. Set your schedule and review mode.
Reconnect or disconnect
If access is revoked in WordPress.com, reconnect from the same settings page. No other site's credentials are reused. Disconnecting in outwrite.ai stops future delivery; it does not remove posts already delivered.
If authorization is interrupted, return to the WordPress.com card and try again. Connection links expire and cannot be reused after a completed attempt.
