Connect Ghost
Send articles directly to Ghost using a custom integration.
Connect Ghost to send finished articles directly to your publication. Your site keeps its own theme and layout; outwrite.ai supplies the article, its slug and featured image.
Before you start
You need access to Settings → Integrations in Ghost. Use the site's Admin API URL and Admin API key, not its Content API key. This works with Ghost(Pro) and a publicly reachable self-hosted Ghost installation.
Connect your publication
- In Ghost, open Settings → Integrations and add a custom integration named outwrite.ai.
- Copy its API URL and Admin API key.
- In outwrite.ai, open Plan → Schedule and publishing → Connect or manage a website → Ghost.
- Paste the URL and key, optionally name the connection, then choose Connect website.
The connection check reads your posts. It does not create or publish an article. Your key is encrypted and used only on the server.
Check your first draft
Choose your Ghost connection as the publishing destination and select draft delivery first. Open the delivered post in Ghost to check headings, links, lists, tables and its cover against your theme.
Article HTML is preserved in a Ghost HTML card. You can edit that card's HTML in Ghost; it does not turn each paragraph into a separate native Ghost editor block.
Covers and publishing
The selected article image becomes the Ghost featured image, with its alt text. Replace or remove the image in outwrite.ai before approving delivery. A removed image is sent without a featured image.
Once the draft looks right, choose live delivery and your preferred review mode. Connecting Ghost alone never enables autopublishing. Learn about publishing controls.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to check |

| Connection rejected | Use the Admin API key from a custom integration, including both parts separated by a colon. |
| Site cannot be reached | Use the API URL shown by Ghost. A private network address is not reachable by the hosted platform. |
| Article sent but cover not visible | Check the post's featured image in Ghost and whether your theme displays featured images. |
| Delivery is being checked | Let outwrite.ai reconcile the original post. Do not create a second copy manually. |
Disconnecting stops future delivery through that connection. Articles already in Ghost remain there.
